Sri Lanka Police marked a significant milestone yesterday (25) as they bid farewell to 50 motorcycle teams, comprising 100 specially trained Police officers from the Special Task Force (STF). Following a rigorous two-week training regimen at the Katukurunda Police Special Task Force Camp in Kalutara, these teams are primed to tackle underworld and organized crime in the Western and Southern provinces.

Under the guidance of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon, this deployment aligns with the overarching 'Yukthiya' special operation aimed at combatting underworld crimes and drug trafficking nationwide. Armed with motorcycles, symbolizing agility and rapid response, the teams will traverse designated police domains across the Western and Southern provinces. Their mission: to swiftly track down criminals and ensure their apprehension.

Minister of Public Security, Tiran Alles, bestowed the motorcycles upon the new squadron at the Katukurunda Police STF camp, emphasizing the government's unwavering commitment to supporting law enforcement in their endeavors. Speaking directly to the assembled officers, Minister Alles reiterated the paramount objective of eradicating criminal elements from the nation's landscape. He urged them to wield their weapons judiciously in service of this noble cause, assuring them of full backing from the authorities.

Furthermore, Minister Alles underscored the readiness to augment the current deployment with additional special teams if deemed necessary to achieve the desired outcomes. "We have a goal. All Police officers are aware of the goal. All I want is to reach the goal. We have increased your salaries and other perks. All I expect from you is to strive towards our goal," he emphasized, rallying the officers to channel their efforts towards the collective mission.

In conclusion, as these 50 motorcycle teams, comprising 100 specially trained STF officers, embark on their mission to uphold law and order in the Western and Southern provinces, Sri Lanka underscores its unwavering commitment to combating organized crime and ensuring the safety of its citizens. With the steadfast support of the government and the resolute dedication of law enforcement personnel, the nation stands poised to confront and overcome the challenges posed by criminal elements. As they venture forth, armed not only with weapons but also with determination and a sense of duty, these officers represent the vanguard of a united effort to secure a brighter, safer future for all Sri Lankans.
