"Maathra 12: A Dazzling Resurgence in Cultural Excellence

For over 11 years, 'Maathra' has been a beacon of cultural brilliance, redefining school performances since its inception in 2008. The brainchild of Mr. Rasika Kothalawala, with the visionary support of Dr. Mohan Lal Grero, Founder of Lyceum International School, and Dr. Kumari Grero, Coordinating Principal of Lyceum International School, this cultural extravaganza has evolved into the largest cultural performance show by any school in the country.

After a hiatus of four years, 'Maathra 12' made a triumphant comeback, captivating audiences with its mesmerizing spectacle. The extended break was an unintended consequence of the unforeseen challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent economic crisis. The grand revival unfolded at BMICH, featuring a staggering 705 dancers from Lyceum branches across Nugegoda, Panadura, Wattala, Ratnapura, Gampaha, Nuwara Eliya, Anuradhapura, and Kurunegala.

Under the guidance of Chief Coordinator Mrs. Nisha Kothalawala and Chief Advisor Mr. Rasika Kothalawala, 65 teachers played a pivotal role in orchestrating the production. Each performance was a testament to meticulous planning, showcasing specially composed music, bespoke costumes, intricate jewelry, and flawless hair and makeup.
